I also don’t really focus on any one thing. I learn based on my interest, often jumping from one thing to another.
I agree with avoiding overly reliant people, but it really can mess with my social skills.
I often need to remind myself that not everyone is like that and that it’s still okay to rely on others to a degree. Doing so wont make me like those I try to avoid.
It’s just also important to stand up for myself in situations where i can’t avoid those kinds of people, practicing with people I already know just makes it easier for those I don’t.
Your view on genetic talent is valid, but i feel like talent is the wrong word. Something like advantage or gift just feels more correct in that definition.
Altogether, your opinions are valid and never came across as arrogant.
If anything maybe a little self deprecating, but aren’t we all.
Anyways, I’ve enjoyed this conversation and hope you have as well.
Learning new skills is fun but being overly relied on feels awful so it feels better to just keep doing what you’re doing instead of trying new things.
The trick I've found to that is just learning to say no when requests go too far. Im only one person and can only do so much.
Also, analytics and mathematics don't necessarily align. To see and comprehend something just by watching is truly an impressive feat.
As for my view on skills vs talents. A skill is something you work hard into developing while a talent is just a skill that comes easily to you. If talents were truly genetic then wed all have the same talents as our parents and ancestors, making them much easier to discover.
Im not saying you don't have to put any work into a talent. It’s just something that you can do a whole lot easier than anything else, not necessarily effortlessly.
Anyway thats just my two cents. I hope this cleared things up a bit.
