Fair enough on HiDive, I agree their platform from just a user experience is like nails on a chalkboard. The hilarious fact that rather than make their subtitles easy to read, they just tell the users to go and adjust the font themselves is crazy. Still I encourage folks to go out and find anime on multiple platforms and enjoy it. Don’t just wait for it to come out on one and weep when it doesn’t.

Also I have to point out that the Light Novel provided more of the inner thoughts for Joseph. He is not being an asshole to Vlad and his men because he likes it. Joseph has a responsibility as feudal lord to maintain the king’s peace and respect the other lords territory. He needs to admonish his knights before the other Lord tries to demand their execution for violating a noble’s rights. So Joseph puts them on suspension to protect them. Think of this as the classic trope of the Police Chief shouting “I want your badge and gun! You’re on suspension until this blows over!” Finally Vlad acts a little pissy to the old questing knight, and Joseph uses it as an opportunity to put Vlad under him for tutelage .

Man, I do love the lore of this series. For some reason the story of Old knights having to quest across the land to earn a noble death reminds me of Judge Dredd, where old judges had to go walk the cursed earth in memory of the original Judges who brought law to the lawless.
