I called that this 'friend' was going to say some annoying shit. Having a salient point that kids--high schoolers--shoulder put themselves first sometimes doesn't take away that it's incredibly irritating to hear her blame him when he was going to talk to her anyway.

Still, this development with the kids is one that I like. Still very much kids, but also exactly the sort of catalyst that'll spur Mizudori into action.

That elitist attitude of being more 'deserving' and referring to adventurers as 'filthy' is what got her here in the first place; at she's been in it long enough that she seems to have finally begun to snap out of it and considered opening her mind to a new perspective.

Mel is right though; even more than just boring, she's a miserable person to be around. It's no surprise nobody wanted to include her in anything. I get that some of it might have been learned but holy shit. Hopefully that begins to change now.

Now this--

This could be building to the true climax and resolution of the story. Yamada's got a lot of communicating to do, and honestly the fault doesn't fall all on her as she's making it out to be, but the fact that things felt like they started falling apart once they were out in the open is because not having them out in the open was part of the problem.

But I say it might be building toward the conclusion because part of what Yamada will need--again, not the only thing, since she needs to address this shadow that Noma left lingering over her--is confirmation that Sasaki will still care about her even if pursuing and enjoying their respective careers might change their perspective on a lot of things: that it won't change her perspective on her, that she'll be okay regardless.

Fuck, this is why slow burn is so satisfying done right: watching and appreciating each piece as it falls into place, seeing the culmination of it all, even if some of that culmination is eruption of emotion--god I can't wait to listen to their voices in the anime.
