You want the honest discussion, you're going to have to start from an angle that means something. And that starts with helping to drop regulation on everything you just mentioned, and far more. Example: Recycling is a pointless venture. Landfills AND recycling centers offset their loads in equal measure to the same overseas companies, who then just dump it in the ocean without a single care in the world. There are laws, state & federal, dictating to pay trash men, pay recyclers, pay for refuse bags, pay for deposit cans, and yet it all ends up in the same place while those same subsidized companies and career politicians blame YOU for the waste and demand YOU do better. Getting the job done proper means tossing the clowns out the seat, pealing back bad local/state/federal regulations, and then rebuilding the recycling industry from the ground up.

But we're not gonna have that conversation because you and many others are too busy choking down the lie. Cow farts, trash on the ground, and food containers that, old & new, are all pointless in terms of a footprint on the environment. All of that's irrelevant.
