Welp that was a fun catch up, time to ignore it for a year.

I'm not imagining things. Translators have swapped terms and names endlessly. It's impossible to keep up with anything aside of Allen's name.

Ah. So the Demon King is a human who DID accept the role and all of this really is just a game. Gotcha.

There's nothing quite like telling a monarchy or authority politely where they can shove it.

Can we get past one single book in Japan without a goddamned tournament arc? Just one?

Narrator: Happiness was not, in fact, waiting for them. Their neighbors declared war the very next year.

I'm genuinely surprised anything in this chapter was confusing. The issue is simple: Amy is a sociopath. She sees every person in the world around her as meaningless NPCs, and is working toward the harem end where she's convinced she'll be pampered and pleasured for the rest of her life, despite the setting not genuinely supporting that in any way. She's taking the role that should by now be extremely familiar to readers, as this ain't the first rodeo that character type has been played.

The big theme and hook, is that she relates to MC in just that way. We are immediately told (and shown) MC cherishes his new mom, new guildmates, new life, new everything—his meta knowledge spurs him on to protect them and their city. In contrast, FeMC is selfish & manipulative, cherishing only herself and those that can bring her lasting joy, and won't care if the world around her burns down to achieve that.

Textbook linking of antagonistic themes. I applaud the author's effort.
