The opposite extreme is not anymore entertaining. And by the extreme, I mean the default MC who is reincarnated/isekai'd, has amazing gifts, tills the land, and nails themselves a local or an elf or a bunny girl or a brownie or whatever in no time at all. A depressive MC constantly losing to misunderstanding of his motives to his companions isn't great either. Particularly when the charm of sincerity is missing. It's actually a little depressing to read, like someone's holding a gun to the author's head and demanding they pen out subpar dreck instead of something with more heart.

Also: Room temperature IQ and can't figure out to pay for a prostitute. Meh.
