The prince is no good (in terms of character) so he will turn Stormheim into a vassal state with his actions but Medisfina is also no good since Akira is a HUGE outlier and the almost sole exception to the commoners are trash in terms of magic AND using a mage to prove the current state of the kingdom where swordsmanship and heroes are worshipped feels more like support to the prince than the princess like she's shooting herself in the foot just to prove that the prince is right just because her friend was belittled (from a point of ignorance) which would be perfectly solved if twat for brains just summoned something or anything mid level to save the princess from losing the verbal spar and her "master" also should've kept her mouth shut since two royal heirs facing off with a bet on top of the duel would ABSOLUTELY get people talking, a disadvantage of talking in public is gossip spreads like a bonfire and backing down isn't an option.............plus the reward for winning is also fucking useless, she should've made it a reward to support her political position (Well, winning the bet itself would do that but it's better to go for something of substance instead an apology and a small boost to her reputation)
