although I agree with you, the school believes that even if sword-masters are targeting your life then you should still go and report them to guards (police). This means somehow overcoming the vast disparity of strength, dodging all the people working with them, and finally finding someone who is powerful enough to not get cut down by them too. A noble expects special treatment and obedience from those below them. Because they are well off, often times they use the power they gained through status (getting swordsmanship classes from professionals from childhood) to pressure others. When both status and the knowledge from status don't work, they pay someone who to attempt until they arrive at someone who can. They may even go as far as paying people to silence failures so it can't be tracked back
