I disagree. Narratively poorly done for sure IMO. But I doubt the author has completely forgotten that this is Caisy memory viewing. Things will change between them after this.

The author works too hard to echo other famous characters and stories, it really gets tiresome.

Well it was written so that Caisy the detective would sympathize with MC, and I'm sure that will work. I also sympathize with Caisy, not that Caisy was not a sympathetic character to begin with. Caisy is smart, truly cares about people, heroic even. Caisy just had the wrong idea about MC, but that is MC's fault, a misunderstanding MC intentionally caused because reasons. (yeah I don't buy this contrivance, just a excuse to have Moriarty secretly be a good person while pretending to be evil, it's been done before and better done before. Even to the point of MC using the name Moriarty well before planning to play the role of villian)

Well it doesn't exactly say they could be one shoted in the game. But it is a fair point, to a degree. Still, 4-5 OP characters verses one weaker than normal vampire and they still needed to essentially cheat.
