Maybe as MC's ability grows, he'll be able to affect people's minds and become some genjutsu master or sum shi

What possibility is there that Yotsuha's mom is actually Yotsuha herself who physically came back in time? Genuine question.

The friend is definitely hiding something but its too obvious for her to be the final wall. The author is cooking something deeper, I can feel it.

I don't see why you would think that at all. Still gold far as I'm concerned.

I guess he just got burnt out and decided he didn't give a shit anymore, best I can figure. Maybe he's like me and he has another story idea he wants to do so was like "F*ck the fans, I'm done"

Just because something is hated doesn't make it wrong.

It's a drawing and a joke. Calm down.

So teach wanted to teach kids and 182 is basically a kid at heart, the perfect match up for character growth.

I knew it. So disappointing, this really could have gone places.

I find it helps to direct expectation as opposed to lowering it. For example, The things I find to be the main draw with this one are the tenuous relationship between MC and her friend, and the way she's slowly turning into a monster, so my expectations are placed on how well those two aspects are handled going forward. The story can survive other parts falling short a bit, their just the seasonings, so while it's not optimal, as long as the foundational pull is done well it can still be a fun read. But I also understand how hard it can be to beat the ocd lol

Yea, I remember when Truepurple was utterly insufferable, but I had a small debate with him not too long ago when he was nitpicking a promising manga, and while he was a bit annoying he had clearly chilled out a lot. Like you said, if we wanna be able to enjoy anything nowadays we gotta just appreciate things for what they are even if they aren't perfect while we wait for the truly good stuff to come out. Would highly recommend 'The spark in your eyes' on that note btw, I read it recently and it was amazing.

As for 'The great villainous boy', it's a fairly new manga by the author of 'The girl I like forgot her glasses', although my personal rec is 'I'm in love with the older girl next door'. But unlike those two which were more romcom's, Koume is going for a more conventional hero/antihero story with TGVB. So far it's been pretty good, even getting on the hot updates with every new chapter. Just expect more of a youthful coming of age story as opposed to action.

You know, that's probably precisely why it doesn't really bother me that much. My brain has already logged this into the "enjoyable mid-tier" category and I always take a more relaxed position of "If I can ignore it, it never happened" approach with those lol If this was higher tier I would hold it to a higher standard. Like with the manga the great villainous boy, I hold that mangaka in pretty high regard so when they did that stupid bit about making people question the heroes because there were people they failed to save it really pissed me off, like obviously there are people they missed, they aren't gods.

I dunno, I get where you are coming from for the most part but I've seen way worse in way more popular stories too, so what you described just feel like minor things that perhaps could be handled better as opposed to full on flaws. But perhaps I've just allowed myself to become desensitized. Also, I could be wrong but wasn't it the case that leveling up was just a slow process not an impossible one, and the stones just expedited the process? Granted it's been a while since I read that part so I might be misremembering.

What rule has been broken here? I haven't seen anything so egregious as what you're talking about.

L take. Not every story needs layers of complexity to be enjoyable.

Hwang better start really getting serious about his martial arts in case some expert comes looking for the "Hero" to test their mettle. Poor man would fold like a wet noodle as he is right now lol

I bet you this kid is going to be extremely important later on, though I'm sure I'm not the first to think as such.

Yes, the contrast is just too glaring lol I've been meaning to try and get back into it because I've heard that he becomes more confident later on after his friends encourage him to embrace the D Iruma or some crap like that, but I read a good 50 chapters or more after that and didn't see any sign of it and don't know if I have the patience to get there.

This is the major issue with manga publications, all they care about is sales and popularity, while truly unique and interesting stories like this get thrown away because they fall too far outside the mainstream when that's precisely what makes them so engaging to begin with.

While that sounds really interesting, and I would love to see a premise in which that is fleshed out, it really doesn't mesh with their personalities. Uichi especially isn't going to be so easily onboard with murder even if he does believe it can be undone, just from a moral standpoint.
