I love how Iruma (the manga) illustrates the teen spirit by greed and desire.

Takeru (the one that disappeared) seem to have a large amount of mana but was unable to use it, so he was being studied.
Maybe they exchanged places at the moment they both died?
(I know one was decapitation but.. who knows!)

The main issue with how manga has a limited amount of pages to work with I reckon.

Last chapter she said "shouldn't we get back together". Thus the "what a bitch" reaction.

This last part really felt rushed but, then again, a repeat of the war would get boring so it's actually smarter told this way.
