I am afraid of it all flopping!
I think he will act like nothing to then show he was all about to burst on the inside or something like that!
The wait! The wait is always killing me!!!
See, even great writers have problems with the "set up - pay off" deal, because the more you know of a type of story, the more you understand their "formulas".
Like, right now we know there will be a battle for each of the three swordmen separately... because that's the trope.
But tropes also help make the scene move, since we "understand" what is happening faster and the writer use these tools for that.
But I will say this... it certainly could be done better.
The main problem mangaka have is that their are limited in pages not by choice, but by what they are given. So they can't do as much or as little as the would want.
Otherwise, it will land like a wet noodle.
So, pushing the love she's feeling by adding some fuel in the form of a competition. And she will probably try to become a full fledge mangaka in order to do so.
Sadly, I doubt we will get more, since these probably are limited by what the pages they are given and not the ones the author wants.
I did NOT expect to see him using a shield surfing method to kill the slime xDDDD
Well, I think then it's absolutely a matter of taste.
Like, I've read mangas with no progression and I dropped them because of that.
But I think that, for a slow a progress this one has, it knows how to keep the story interesting for its audience.
In my case, despite the snail pace it has, I still like it.
And I think it compliments the type of story with a slow progression fine by how well the characters have been set. I could not imagine Akutsu being able to be forthcoming at all after all this time, while the boy clearly still holds some fears.
And despite that, they at least acknowledge their own feelings. But are too into their own roles to be able to set themselves free of them still.
It's not really a romcom but rather a gag comedy with romcom. So, changing the status quo is always a slow process, for that is part of the gag.
So now he's starting to notice things, and maybe he will start seeing the past with different eyes, learning something he missed before.
He was cold then, turned into a true hunting dog to reach his vengeance... but the stay with the barbarian tribe taught him he could feel companionship and trust; and now, he is seeing that his views of the past were never a two sided dice. His father is showing an array of emotions, breaking everything he thought was.
I hope this means he will try to look into his past to discover something else was afoot.
So it would be a hard sell for something out of fairy tales to suddenly be real at this point; so he need solid evidence first.
The author made the confession take forever... but in such a smart bit, also decided to do them all three in ONE GO!
Next chapter we will see how our bou reacted to each of those reactions I reckon!!!!!
