They did the same thing in ASEAN including Indonesia, but like what I said before it's probably cuz of the distance not just in physical sense but also culturally, china, Korea and Japan culture is kinda similar, probably cuz they all came from the same place at first and they are also physically closer, starting a conflict is always easier with your neighbor than someone who live next town, so even after the war these 3 country don't have any time to cool down cuz they are right next to each other's unlike in Indonesia there is a moment of a few decades of no contact for a few decades and connection is reopened slowly, Korea and Japan especially don't have that time to cool down cuz they are neighbor, so the memories is still fresh to them, in Indonesia those colonized history is more like a legend, we know they did happen but the majority of us Indonesia never actually meet with Japanese or Netherlands people themselves, so there is that distance we have that kill the hatred

In Indonesia we learn history about how we got colonized in book start at elementary school but we don't have much in a way of media or teaching from elderly in a way that show hatred towards country that colonized us, the most common racists we have is toward china but it's because we have many rich Chinese descendants who have bad personality, there is not much hatred toward the country china it's self

I'm from Indonesia and we are pretty cool with Japan, we even really cool with netherland who colonized Indonesia for almost 350 years, but I guess the main factor we just cool with them is distance, unlike Korea or china we are not exactly a neighbor to either Japan or Netherlands, we got time to seperate ourselves from them I guess?
