I mean goddamn, it's not even that he destroyed that girl emotionally. It's that he calmly let her know how hard SHE destroyed him. Though it's more likely she ran off crying because she couldn't get whatever storybook romance connection she was aiming for. I know I'll be disappointed in that we won't be getting any kind of development from MC's family & associates realizing they've help to build a sociopath monster who'd sooner see them immolate than piss on them to put them out if they catch fire, but I can hope.

Damn shame it'll all go pear-shapped since this is a romance story instead of a life drama.
