Small correction, its not fan service we mainly complain, but just MEANINGLESS, REPETITIVE fan service. Take Highschool DXD for example, they give fan service in so many ways, some may be repetitive, but none of it was meaningless as there are already hints to its harem ending before it was even shown. In Rental Girlfriend, however, the trash MC doesn't do shit no matter how many times he sees TNAs, what was the point of giving so many fan services to begin with then?

Trash anime is easier to explain, just check the isekai garbage can - Murabito A, Fruit of Evolution, Iseleve.

You do have good points. Marvel Rivals didn't solely depend on their pretty and sexualized designs to keep people in the game. As I recall, they swap character combos and synergies here and there for every season so no character has constant advantage, and made their gameplay never the same every time.

This work has a lot more drama and story potential than Rental Girlfriend, and yet the only reason why Rental Girlfriend has greater priority is because they have MORE prettier waifus. Its the ironic truth, where this is the exact same formula why games like Marvel Rivals and Monster Hunter Wilds are sucessful as well. I hate that this formula works out in mangas just as in games (though I don't mind it work out in games because we utterly lack hot chicks and dudes to play in games as compared to having an over-saturated market of anime waifus in fiction).

Hell, even the translator literally said "fuck this axed crappy ending, I'm calling out the light novel for my homies!" at the end.
