It's like how American and European things will still have German bad guys because of the Nazis. Except unlike Germany, Japan never really apologized for anything they did during the war (hell most of the people that were in charge during the war didn't even come out of power.) I believe the reason it kind of only goes one way is similar to how certain countries will have a lot of literature and film about British oppression and the British don't have a lot of stuff about them, the people on the side of the oppressed have to deal with being aggressed upon while the oppressors often just get to say they grew and move on.) also generally speaking the Japanese are not particularly interested in other cultures other than for novelty Factor, similar to how American audiences are interested in other peoples because of how many immigrants are in America and came here in the past, but the American people don't care about other countries their people nearly as much as they should sometimes, at least not beyond the context of what we can get from them.

Or how he kept asking if something was an "event" but there's never been a pop up, notification or message for any events, just for endings. You nailed it though the lack of detail is why has felt weird to read, it would be like if re:zero only ever had him 1.meet people 2.have two meaningful conversations and then die before 3.restarting. and just skip anytime he spends in the timeline that isn't set up for the death. Like this is supposed to be tragic and sad and all that but because they spend so little time actually establishing the characters as people and so much time dragging them along as plot points I don't actually care when something bad happens to them because I'm both confused as to what the f*** is going on, and annoyed at his obvious ignorance of red flags because I'm not gotten his head enough to understand why he would ignore obviously shady s***.

Why is every single character that isn't Lena or his dad a red flag in this scenario? Like it's just the shadiest people constantly giving everybody side eye and side glances while giving you suspiciously good deals and he's just like "oh gee golly thanks friend."

This series feels like I'm just watching the cutscenes between gameplay of a fantasy game, like a lot of stuff's happening but also it feels like nothing ever happens, while also constantly feeling like I'm missing just a little bit of context for everything..

It's making me think of steins gate,

At first it seems absolutely aimless with a main character with very little motivation, ambition, charm, intelligence, perseverance... he's kind of a leaf in the wind, but it gets a bit focused after that. Not much more focused mind you, but technically more focused. The setting of The plot could perhaps be a bit clearer (I'm never 100% on if he's in a game he's played or if he's just making guesses,) and the emotional stakes confound me because he goes from not giving a s*** about the stuff in the game and wanting to leave to carrying immensely about the stuff in the game back and forth through several lives with the only real justification for that being that he gets the memories of the life but how that manifest is him just becoming that character like 90% of the way with no real input from Korean him other than the occasional flash of "maybe I'll do this instead." Before deciding to just...not. off screen. During a time skip. It never goes into enough detail or emotional depth for me to care about any of these characters at least up to chapter 12 where I quit. It has this tendency to just have a Time skip anytime they're supposed to have characters get closer instead of actually showing them getting closer, just a lot of "a couple weeks past and we got close", " it's been a year since I got here and I'm familiar with everyone" " a month passed and I just want to be happy with Lena", it's got real strong Last Airbender "they became fast Friends" energy. And the female lead is not particularly dynamic or interesting so far, I'd give it points for an interesting concept but I value execution far more. This feels like if someone tried to write re:zero but they're a slightly worse writer so they just can't get their point across and can't get the emotional weight to have any heft.
It feels like watching the cutscenes for a semi interesting jrpg that never got a sequel that has some really cool gameplay concepts but I never get to see any of the game play so every cut scene feels like it's missing just a little bit of context. 5-6/10 if it gets its footing at some point past where I quit I'd rate higher but right now this is all I can give it.

I'm fine losing this life it was kind of a burner, I just hope next time he can get any indication as to what he's supposed to be doing or wants to do cuz so far it just seems like he's just doing whatever the character wants to do.

So has he played this game before and knows this storyline or is he just making educated guesses? I am so genuinely unsure. Also so help me God if he fucks his sister in this life I'm going to be done with this man, cuz that would have made three lives where instead of actually trying any strategies or figuring things out or trying to make moves, he just followed his dick.

I really hope a plot starts to happen because this kind of feels like this man is just getting dragged around while making as few choices about his life as possible, which is probably thematically significant but is not particularly entertaining at the moment.

I am consistently confused on what he does or doesn't know, as well as his mental state, cuz it really seems like at the start of every life he has a mix of his real life memories and the characters memory but within a month he's like 90% the character, like his whole goal this time was to not get attached to her yet he's still immediately got attached to her. And it probably isn't helping that they keep having nebulous time skips of a couple months to a year.

Oh so this is going to be more of an odyssey, I'm game. It's also funny if you consider that guy made three separate mistakes that stacked. he helped out a murderer without knowing who he was, which wouldn't have been a problem if you didn't decide to snitch on Said murderer after helping him out, what's that mean and he didn't use his family heirloom to save his people he waited until they were all dead or dying.
