it's more setup for what comes after the blast/ that man fight, odds are after one or two more chapters of this it will cut back to that fight either in development or at it's conclusion. like how the martial arts tournament arc was all there to setup monster cells and the existence of the monster association while bouncing to various hereos in conflict and garou in development, reading it chapter by chapter it does feel worse though.

while offscreening is when a character gets their ass beat offscreen(off camera, unseen but otherwise acknowledged event), the reverse is for someone to Beat Ass offscreen, a notable recent example of this is the character Shanks from one piece defeating a notable Pirate crew that rivals the main character's own, offscreen. no clue what character he is saying had that fate though.
