Yeah that's on me, I'll be mixing up names I read too many series.

It is fun what different approaches they've taken, Tokita is more like a straight fighter like Ryu or Goku that just appreciates a very good direct throwing of hands, while gaoh is more like the fighters from the Yakuza games or Jackie Chan in his Early Films, sort of a any means necessary absolute scrapper improvisational fighter.
Koga is kind of a bit of both depending on what's necessary.

The emperor is an interesting character in this series, because he's not evil and he's definitely done some awful things, but they've made sure you at least somewhat understand why he ended up like this.
Like he both understands and greatly benefits from the path that's been set out for him but at the same time he deeply resents the man that set that path simply because he was never even given a choice in the matter, and as a result he's also just relatively passive while taking great joy in the minor victories he gets because they're victories made by his choice or in deference to his will, something his wife was well aware of and planned around leading to her taking much more major victories for the longest time and doing a lot of awful things and getting away with it simply by not letting him know about it.

The translator swapped the word "your" with "my" in the moyong clan leaders speech bubbles whenever he referred to his father. This combined with half of those martial artists he was talking about having the words sword, emperor or God in their name left me fairly confused.

Okay so that's why he said she when referring to that character in that one previous chapter, I thought it was a translation thing but it turns out that when he initially explained that character's setting I didn't realize he was saying that they were a woman reincarnated into a man, I just thought it was a chick pretending to be a guy and he was just pretending not to notice.

They framed it like one of those big tournament arcs but it's just...not a big tournament, and the starkness of that difference makes the whole thing seem silly.

I feel like they were more chill because a lot of them experienced death and revival and some of them even got to remember it. Also because the planet on multiple occasions has just violently vibrated apropos nothing while loud screams can be heard from beyond the horizon.
