Is there a spirit of death? in this stories world life and death are concepts that the MC controls and uses as powers, and combines into chaos. so I don't think they're a sentient entity as much as impartial forces in the world, like gravity or electricity. And even if there is a spirit behind the force, given MCs control, they would likely be subservient to him.
