the mugs representing the three while the contents represent their feelings/personalities. the girls is hot and ready to go in an elegant cup(showing her status/background) but sitting in the shadow(mysteries, secrets, unknowns, etc.) separating her from the other two. then Ilays being cold but full in a clear glass that's easy to see through(just like him, full of passion that's since cooled off/gone cold, but still easy to read). and MCs being a plain mug that's completely empty(plain and utilitarian with no passion or emotion for others).
