The plausible idea is that najin explained the situation to dragon, and is falsifying a new scenario to even further fuck up the area

we see that elephant was about to side with the dragon descendants, which would even if decision wavered be unfavourable to the knights, to retain equalisation of terms najin has made the dragon descendants look antagonistic in terms of peace in warfare, as they are no longer defending themselves but adhering to ruthless violence

infront of elephant, this means she has to now stop the chaos

so, going against botht he descendants AND the knights equally
this is ideal because if elephant one handedly sided with either side, both morally (int erms of social repurcussions) and physically the other party would be inconventionally screwed

it's best because the dragon himself is a neutral party, and so neither side has a changed view of najin, which means the trust thing is still kept alongside the descendants, and (esp with the betrayal) he is still very reedeemable to the knights, it's the opportune scenario for fucking dragging this nonesense on
