honoured one gets the pass but back to back and im still broiling over aiselle's mistreatment from that souless redhead
there needs to be some humbling first
before it just felt like a "prove myself" type situation, where she acknowledged the commoner's capabilities (leniency in tone always because of the background and social pressure)
but here it was just senseless hostility, especially if we consider their past relationship literally just revealed to us
it isn't even like a rivalry type thing, or kicking a dead horse, it's a type of disrespect that's practically ungrounded and sourced solely from some sort of well of envy and discontent for your peers, especially when coupled with her status as herself + the clique in the background
it was just sooo
"yuck"
im not commenting on whether or not it was a good portrayal of a bully and maybe me not liking it said something, but it definitely didn't feel consistent and if it was then it would shed a different lens on all her previous actions as ones broiled practically from her own (self or outwardly) loathing, which is just jerkish
but hey, maybe she's been posessed by an evil demon and it's making her be meaner than normal!
I had hopes for red bitch, I thought she was just short tempered...
but there was so absolutely no reason to go after neck like that, something about the way they portray that kind of bullying hits even harder (that kind being WOMAN on WOMAN action)
praying on her downfall from now on 🙏
personally I define those as filler arcs
I mean I could still be wrong maybe one of the models becomes a core character or sum
but I only called it on an off comment because the arc doesn't try to portray itself as impactful in any way, besides being a side gig literally, it also READS like "he's just having a side gig", it doesn't feel like it takes itself seriously enough on its own ontop of so far not really providing anything towards a main story arc
that's why I'm simply presuming this is "a filler arc"
I could be wholesomely wrong, and maybe it's such a good ass "filler arc" that calling it a filler arc would be an active detriment to its prestige, but if that's what it'll be I'd like to know beforehand
is this new terminology for prepping a binge read?
I don't think I would have ever recovered from toradora otherwise
I mean this is a step up from toradora but yeah
I am no lookism professional and im sure some epic character growth can or will come out of this, but as far as I've heard this isn't the main focus of lookism; the manwha can follow the theme of self betterment all it wants but does any of this particularly serve an underlying story arc or am I misreading this entirely?
it's like if a tarot card reader existed except on the rare occasions where he was REALLY specific he would STILL get things right, and thank if his specifics are right his vague-ness must have some deeper meaning
no one is gonna believe him if he just went "sorry im dumb so I didn't mean it that way"
-of course this is very different from blowing things out of proportion with the intent to manifest some imaginary hostility and conflict, that's called being a bastard and is a very real thing
thinking "oh did he subtley mean to say x when he said y????" is different from thinking ["so when you SAY x, you mean y, don't you?!"] and then responding aggressively
I don't care if he has to accidentally have a sinkhole fall under this man's feat, and summon the lord of subterra or some shit, if they are gonna sell the fake thing they gotta at LEAST make him look cool man
the portrayal of the chimera garden in the anime is what did it for me, it didnt feel as epic in the manga
the idea that this level 8 ungodly beast reigns hell on earth as a side gig for your up and coming party went hard, I just wanna see more scenes where at the very least some stroke of luck or some paltry effect happens to turn for the better and actually make him look good, the last one we had was a golem fucking tripping on itself it doesnt look impressive in the slightest irrelevant of it being fake
ideally, and im not sure how this would play out narratively, I'd love to see that grieving whatevers party is actually not blindsided, and cry is just ignorant; not of his true strength but abnormality
like I want to believe they know cry probably isn't landing a punch harder than liz or a slash better than luke's, but he has his own gimmick that very reliably results in his ability to always stand ontop, the trust we see here really just feels unfounded
like it's taking a constant stream of suspension of disbelief to permit the plot progression,
I wouldn't even mind if it was an inherent foresight that makes it so all his dumb luck predictions are actually explainable, because I CAN have blind trust in that
it would also put moer weight on his fighting capability to be able to coincidentally have the perfect sets and amounts of relics (which are crazy expensive and rare, and vary in effectiveness typically) for the most niche of niche scenarios, which always result in an overwhelming victory
like if he was always carrying pieces of the puzzle but didnt know about it
brought me here, greatest gift <3
