Those pants probably survived because unlike the rest of his body, the family jewels and Snake didn't grow at all. 🤣

First the city was 300 years old, then 800...and now 1000?

Still going to read it.
My problem with regression is that you, as a person, are an entirely different person from what you were previously, and as such, you cannot guarantee that your relationships will work out the same. A different series delves into this kind of thing by accident, but also on purpose. Saying she's his girl sounds good from the perspective of a child... But in reality, the things that created the relationship are no longer there, and there's no guarantee that things will work out. Obviously this is fictional, and created purely for entertainment... But the fantasy won't hold up if it becomes reality.

This is why most of the world abandoned fudalism... Wars are vanity projects that benefit very few people, and mostly just cause more wars and problems. The reason why WWII Happened was Precisely because everyone took a hard stance against an entire nation, without any mercy towards the majority of citizens in that country, leading to the radicalization that created the Nazi, and so on.

If you as a ruler in such a nation as dipicted here, were to act out in such a brash manner over every slight, you would either Have to be a Bard with a Honeyed Silver Tongue or be the MC, capable of defeating armies alone. Otherwise you would quickly find your head on a pike, instead of your neck, and people dancing on your corpse... Which is frequently what happens to such rulers in history.

Which is why most fudal societies develop social niceties and beuracracy since beyond a certain scale, war isn't very profitable to most people, even if they're Nobility. Diplomacy was developed precisely because war generally doesn't generate profit long term... Except for those who create or transport the weaponry. Which even then loses profits over time. Skirmishes are the most profitable form of war generally speaking, as it minimizes casualties and damages to infrastructure... Basically, as a ruler, overall benefits, even at the cost of family, & dignity, are more important... Particularly if you don't want your own citizens to decide you're public enemy number one.

Read to chapter 63, almost a full year after it was updated last too.
The lore of this is better than I thought... There are issues with the flow... But I've seen worse...and actually unlike the complaints I have seen... A lot of the stuff that others call cheap shots are hinted at pretty early on.

The mask: they explain different kinds of tools, how some are divine, cursed, and can choose their owners/victims, the MC assumed it was cursed, but if you look at the explanation provided chapters prior to the reveal of it being a divine tool, you, you can see that the MC's assumptions were a bit off.
The power system: early on they explain that users of all three energy types, Spirit (think of it as a liquid) magic (think of it more like a gaseous substance), and vitality/ki/chi/qi (think of it like plasma) are rare and that the MC is one of the few in the area... So, while uncommon, the MC isn't some sort of unique entity.

The Bloodlines: The MC has been repeatedly remarked upon as being particularly dense about his place in things, and even admits that he's not exactly the most self aware. So it makes perfect sense that he wouldn't really see how unusual his home village might actually be, particularly since prior to his transformation from Human to Undead, he was admittedly weak, even by his own standards. So, on top of being obtuse, he wasn't strong enough to properly assess the situation of his upbringing, and the MC lacks introspection skills, so... Yeah... Normal Blockhead Syndrome MC

The Buy out: the woman who almost killed him is clearly an ask questions later battle junky, add on Blockhead syndrome MC... And that whole incident pretty much explains itself... They're both not particularly intelligent when it comes to themselves, but they're good at what they do external to themselves. Yeah. It's kind of stupid to go through with a transaction with someone who tried to kill you, but the MCs does explain why they went with it anyways. The sense of obligation some people have is patently ridiculous, but reframe it from a Western Individuality First perspective into an Eastern Collectivism perspective, and once again, MC's behavior is logical. Maybe not ideal in terms of self-preservation, but the MC is a Block Head with mildly suicidal/fatalistic aspects... So, in terms of character design it checks out

So... Was it a good read? Yeah, not terribly bad, and has enough details to keep it entertaining... But given how erratic and inconsistent the updates are... I'm not hopeful that this will be a completed series.

Yes, she either believes you're immortal, or she's testing a theory that you are immortal. Works out to be effectively the same deal here though.

Agreed.
The series has amazing lore obviously, but the execution isn't always up to the task... At least that's how it feels...then again... Our MC is an old man technically, but behaves mostly like a precocious child, and not a former old man.

Any news as to why it has been on a nearly two month abrupt hiatus? Last update was January 9th 2025, currently February 23rd, 2025

That's why, even if I was suddenly transported to a Murim setting, I would make sure to cultivate a broad palate, and be known as a Gourmand, Master of Myriad Poisons and Medicines, Engineer of Devious and Divine Devices, King of Fairies and more titles simply because that's the kind of person I am...and also because I'm next to impossible to find if I'm not interested in interacting with others.

The mother ended up creating the very thing she feared, by trying to ostracize her own daughter. Maybe oif she'd focused on being a more first, and a power hungry banshee last, the situation would be rather different.

Also, these must be machine translated, as the gender terms are frequently a mishmash even in the same sentences 🤔

I'd respond with a meme worthy image, but my gallery doesn't feature that sort of thing 99%of the time. 🤣
What it does have, would probably be a ban hammer offense, and likely offensive to the majority of audiences on this platform. 💁🏼‍♂️😅

Could the series be better executed... Sure... But if you're not too Picky and want entertainment, it's pretty good at that.

Good series, has a good paci g and it's actually pretty novel, as instead of doing everything one at a time, the MC is literally doing everything all at once in a delightful manner. This is definitely a good use of the whole Avatar concept.

Okay, this is good.

Binged up to this point, and now will have to pretend this doesn't exist for a few month, perhaps a year would be good, or maybe more... I want to read this. 😍
