But he did do that. The first time that they talked it out MC told antag how messed up and utterly foolish humans are being towards the other races. Heck, through out MC rebuilding the kingdom, he saw how he messed up by not allowing the humans in his kingdom during his first go round to be involved. He realized that for all he preached for coexistence, he was isolating the humans because of his on ideals. Mc clocked it and fixed it. Even in this fight, all antag talks about is that how different these other races are and came to his (and the other people's) unreasonable conclusion about how "rather to wait and see if they enslave us because they have these traits, let's enslave them". None of which was and will be justified, especially when they treat them as ingredients to their potions. MC has clocked the stupidity of that worlds logic, clocked how he himself was kinda of doing the same thing in his previous timeline and fixed, and mc still tried to persuade the antag cause he saw how the sword master from this timeline changed after interacting with the other races and not seeing them as less than. MC has been seeing it from antag perspective, but the major issue here is that that perspective is utter BS. I've said it twice now, that perspective is that of a whine baby who thinks he's not special cause the other kids are good at something he's not. And he and his compatriots think that those other races have it well off because of their literally genetic, but forgot or never thought to think how now of them have it any better. Sure elves are natural beautiful and long lived, but have they realized how depressing that is to live so long and know that if you make relationships with outside races that aren't long lived, you know you'll out live them. For dwarves, sure they are master craftsmen, but they will never know peace cause they have chase that impossible dream of crafting something perfect. The trolls are basically any Marvel mutant with a healing factor. They feel every single pain. And the orcs, they have the slight advantage of begin physical better but in a world where aura exists, fuck that noise. Just look at MC 's master and the old swords master. In a world where aura and magic exist, you can't tell me humans can't compete. Shit look at the mech suit antag is wearing.

So with everything said, MC didn't need a long winded speech to persuade the antag cause all it takes was to hear his whole rant to see that he thinks humanity is weak. He killed humans under the guise to protect humanity. If it didn't work twice then MC has no reason to continue to talk to someone so blinded by his own inferiority he can't see his own hypocrisy and stupidity.

But, that's the thing, MC knows what the antagonist is talking about but it makes no sense when you look at the diversity humanity brings. Yes, the other races have advantages but humans have their own. Shit, look at the fact that they are oppressing said other races. If they spent half of that energy in the enrichment of everyone, then their world would be more peaceful and have more advancements than their current status. Mc doesn't need to empathize with the antagonist when his reasoning literally spits on the face of humanity. Can you name one talking point that antag had that even warrants empathy? Empathizing with antag is the equivalent to empathizing an extremely rich person when their ideals that only benefits them is being ignored or they lose money cause they're not popular. They will still have money at the end of day, they are just mad to have competition. That's what the antag is essentially saying, that he hates the competition for no reason other than they're different. So, to reiterate, mc doesn't need to empathize with people who are so caught up in their inferiority complex that they deemed it needed to enslave and, not even demonize, portray them as less than.

MC did change his view point though. He realized by doing everything himself as the only human, he isolated the humans that he had under his rule in the previous timeline. Now, he's distributing the responsibility to everyone. Whereas the previous martial king is so set in his ways that he still justified the killing of humans when they found the relics of the past. He and his cohorts are so caught up in their whataboutism that they are killing their fellow humans. They are allowing poverty to happen to their fellow humans. They are so far gone, they would rather give a guy, who fell in love with an elf, mental trauma by making him believe she killed herself then to let him live his life with her. So your end statement only applies to the former martial king in MC's body.

I can still have sympathy but still hate her for her actions thus far at the same time. Crappy childhood doesn't give you the right to fuck someone's life over. The only way I would stop hating her is if it turned out she was mind controlled or she actually put in work to make it up. Granted, after what mc did to her might taint that whole "her doing it on her own without excepting forgiveness" is there but at at least it will be a start. A lot of bad people that had did fucked up things had crappy childhoods, doesn't mean we should automatically forgive them for their evil acts, especially when it towards innocent bystanders.
