2- it's a relative. Handholding still sus but understandable if siblings.
3- an option I saw below: she's cheating but MC is the other guy

imho it still makes sense. Like Walter said, holding hands with another man is hella sus, what else was MC supposed to think. If they were in a healthy relationship with comunication, it'd be a non-issue: "Hi MC I met me brother today, we were walking around and I spotted your house. How have you been? I'm thinking of you."
