Not that I see anything wrong with ganging up on a victorious opponent, as long as you can win without too much of a cost. But I agree that's probably what the order was (or something like that), so that one is not approaching to fight but to obey the order. Which is why the approach with all the tears and no aggressive stance.

Of course any king willing to murder people for not paying absurd taxes would certainly be willing to force people to sell essences (I assume you mean essence when you say "soul") But also of course pay to encourage people to come forth and not use essences instead.

"runes"=ruins=the dungeons? Well people are taxed for just being alive even at threat of execution, forcing them to dungeon dive to remain alive,. That's alot of money aside from a king able to just take things as well.

I would assume any king would also have all the best people guiding them through dungeons for experience etc. All the best items for attack and safety.

I don't know, I haven't read the novel. But clearly all the power ups are going to this king for them to be personally powerful.

You could say "watch everyone with a careful eye" If barbarians start attacking people without being attacked, jumping to conclusions about someone else being a plunderer and thus becoming plunderers themselves, that could lead to everyone else attacking barbarians on sight in the dungeon, which would be really bad for the barbarians. Sure they might struggle with this middle ground, but they will definitely fail if you don't even try.

It is bad for them to hate humans, and not just because of this awful evil king. There is a middle ground between this extreme fear of plunderer message and not saying anything. Also terrible that MC is spreading that stupid Hans name superstition. I think the author means it to be a running joke, I just find it to be annoying.
