OK maybe I can see how it wouldn't be useful for a modern city to have a minimap ability, depending on how it worked and how well you knew the area in the first place. Though if you ever went into a dungeon or a new place it should still be useful.

But why would having that ability make surviving harder, does it cover up your vision so you can't see in front of you
