There is a middle ground between trying to keep your power top secret (and usually failing spectacularly as though you weren't even trying) and going out of your way to arrogantly show boat. Also presumably it would be possible for MC to lose against all of them combined if not for the plot weapon of being MC. Senselessly exposing yourself of embarrassment of losing after acting so arrogantly.
