This text does not make sense to me in context. Anyone know of another translation or something?
Does anyone else see comments about truffles by me other than this one for example?
Let me know if you see this and do you also not see these posts in comments under the chapter?
Please appreciate the effort it took loading old comment notifications and looking through them to find your request to tell you :p

I don't see a problem with powerful people interacting with the world. There is no morale obligation to be detached from everything. I don't buy this argument.
Maybe. But MC is a MC, I set a higher standard for them. I want my main characters to be people a root for, which is harder to do when they are hard core torturing people out of greed. I get the feeling that the author doesn't even see torture as a morale issue at all, considering MC did spare the lives of the rest of the ambush party.
And two wrongs don't make a right. It's not morale for MC to torture someone just because the other side would do it if the situations were reversed.
Also restoring your clan and revenge against a evil dangerous empire trumps wanting some money and love of martial arts IMO as just causes go, not that MC knows all that.
Forget not connecting the dots with the antiqueter decoding a treasure map with the same family name, how is it that MC didn't hear this suspicious story from someone MC didn't trust in the first place and not see a single red flag. Even from somebody I trusted to a certain degree, I would have considered tailing them or something.
"well what was he supposed to do? they ask for the map and he gives it to them? That's not negotiation that's blackmail buddy"
The word you are looking for is "extortion". "Blackmail" is a specific type of extortion where you threaten to tell someones dark secrets if they don't comply with you. Threatening to force someone with violence even to the point of their potential death if they don't comply is not "blackmail". I know some dictionaries say threats of violence also count as "blackmail" but that would make "blackmail" and "extortion" mean the same thing and what would the point of that be? I have found evidence of my meaning https://legaldictionary.net/blackmail/
So what if they extorted MC to give up the map & scribe? MC could have just done so. I don't think it's particularly evil to extort someone to get something, especially with no one legitimately owning the thing in question MC has extorted people esself If the issue was the scribe, MC could have convinced the scribe to translate and them to be satisfied with that. Hell MC could have even come to a agreement with them to go with them and be given a chance to read and take some of the kong-fu manuals, maybe even some of the treasure. From their legitimate perspective MC is just some random outside meddler, which is what MC is, a greedy treasure seeker. Why should they give some random outside meddler anything? Even still MC could have negotiated some kind of agreement when they were literally being super polite about it.
Did they even kill a single person in cold blood at secret market robbery?
"It's even been pretty much established they're a group of ostracized and oppressed fanatics who aren't really doing this for the "common people" as they are trying to reclaim lost glory and stuff to overthrow the han (current imperial family)."
The story has made it clear they want to restore their clan and yes destroy the current emperor. And destroying the current emperor IS justice for the people, clearly current emperor is evil and should be killed. I don't see where you see "glory seeking" Sure, they aren't doing it for regular folk, but so what? I don't get why you are calling them "fanatics" They certainly aren't bandits robbing travelers etc
Again, torturing people is a evil act, Torturing people is usually a useless act (tortured people can just tell you false things that you want to hear without any way to verify what they say, this one was a idiot for not doing that.) It was not a life and death situation to find out who these people are. Especially if MC just gave up on the greedy treasure seeking
I wonder if the story is referring to this-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_Turban_Rebellion and will follow that pattern. I hope not. There are already some differences but people wearing yellow on their heads and rebelling against the emperor is a striking similarity
I disagree anyway. Someone extremely morale might be unlikely. (is Sharon that morale though? What super morale things has Sharon done?) But I bet there are extremely morale people somewhere in this big world with billions of people.

Then said hand over the scribe and map and we will let you go. MC refused and drew es weapon. Chapter 66. https://mangakatana.com/manga/wild-west-murim.26502/c66 closer to the end of the chapter
What evidence do you see that the yellow headband people are evil?
I didn't say anyone else had a rightful claim to the treasure either. Just that MC didn't. I don't think there is ever a cause for torture, and if there would be, it would be when it could save someones life or something, assuming it would even do that since torturing for information is notoriously unreliable. Instead MC solely driven by greed, greatly tortured someone. Even one of those acupuncture pocks is suppose to be the worst kind of pain and MC did it thrice. Makes me rather hate the MC a bit and by extension dislike the story.
