Except in that story there was constantly something from nothing with this so called "alchemy". It was annoying to hear because it was so inconsistent and not actually followed.

of course it comes with a catch, not because "too good to be true" but because the person offering is a evil fucker. Remember this is the person ultimately responsible (aside from dead greedy adoptive mom) for said limited lifespan in the first place.

Probably the catch is that es needs to join them.work for them, and leave the monster front lines. Perhaps and even likely other catches as well but certainly that one. Why would a evil fucker help prolong someones life other than to get them working for them with those years, especially with saying es "very talented" Another catch could be to live longer you have to steal life from others.

Meh, it rather annoys me when people second guess stories like this. It also insults the story, which is fine, but I just want you to recognize that saying there is "flags" as in predictable tropes that mean certain things, is saying the story is formulaic and boring.

Besides everyone else who commented was certain the brigands were going to die and I knew they wouldn't because of the trajectory of the story. I suppose that's a "life flag" did you miss that "life flag" before? If so, maybe your judgment about "death flags" is wrong as well.

I disagree, the ears are about the same level of detail as other stuff. And possibly more drawn compared to other comics.

No. not that high. Remember even some tens of levels and a evolution or two difference can mean all the difference, add in a OP skill and a fairy not wanting to fight in the first place and you don't need nearly "lvl 200" to want to run. Level 200 is god-like compared to them and compared to most of the world even. If the demon was 200, they probably couldn't even run and hide. As it is now their lives were absolutely saved and even combined with the fairy in ambush combat they wouldn't stand a chance.

Suffice to say it's not nearly 200, I know because I've read the novel, I gave some spoiler in reply to a different comment in this chapter. I don't spoil the level because I can't remember, but nothing close to 200.

Also keep in mind that demons in general are much stronger than most other beings of the same level and evolution/class to varying degrees. Like a typical level 50 demon will likely easily defeat a typical level 50 human or monster in single combat. Add in how fast demons level and evolve compared to most other beings (in part because of their strength relative to level which the system rewards the same regardless with experience) and they are a very dangerous opponent.

I'm not saying people shouldn't pay for things. But their massive taxes is going to a greedy king who doesn't seem to be providing anything in return for the people and you get murdered if you don't pay these massive taxes. These royals are massive evil leaches making a bad situation much worse.
