The irony is especially thick anyway with MC just finished talking about arrogance and overconfidence causing people to leave their guard down, and then walks away from a body(literally showing MC's back to it) hit with only one attack not bothering to check if the person was alive or not or make sure they werren't

Can make you see, hear, smell etc whatever es wants you to, perfect illusion fooling all senses that for the most part can not be seen through. Latter that gets upgraded to turning illusions into reality itself.

Ash risking es life to save them, has probably earned their loyalty now. Which means Kaliean won't pull this shit in the future probably, not like this anyway.
So Ash risking life got good characters with high potential, recovered important items made for them and the gloves as well will probably stay with Kalien who is the only one who can really use it.

Even if Ash didn't care at all about lives, from a strategic point of view it was high risk high reward. And it maybe wasn't even that high of risk as MC said the slime boss is vulnerable on the inside, which is very plot convenient and not sure how that would work in a old DOS or predos or whatever, tower defense game. I guess slime bosses in the game would just burst after a time if they swallowed strong enough characters? Which would make it a very dumb move for such a slime to swallow something preparing to do a massive attack. Feels like a pretty big but I guess necessary, plot hole

Nope, but they had a chance of critical failure it seems which meant normally you would want to self limit the use to only times where yo are desperate.

Unless you have a special luck "skill" that neutralized that critical failure chance.

Well it's unlikely to be 500, sure in this world people are supernaturally strong to to the extreme, especially at that level, but still quality armor shouldn't be nearly that heavy. In real life a full set of plate armor is something like 20 to 25 kilograms/45 - 55 pounds even jousting armors only like 36 kg which is alot for a mortal RL human but in this world, you can get strong enough, it probably feels like nothing, especially if it's some fancy high end mythical ore. Like mythril or whatever is usually super light for it's volume in stories.

Anyway, I assume you don't have people trying to kill you during your zoom meetings. A company like Iron company has lots of enemies, they seem to actively go out of their way to make enemies sometimes. Leadership are prime targets to kill and a good time to kill someone would be when you know where they are going to be (it's a meeting, it had to be scheduled or at least called for so that everyone can you know, meet) and when they are distracted, like during a meeting. Also this is a meeting about war essentially So it makes sense to me to wear armor. Especially as armor is not something you can typically get into fast if something were to happen.

Though I doubt the artist thought that much about it, just thought it looked good probably, and I don't recall the novel getting into what everyone was wearing during meetings. This is the artist who drew a dead body being pissed (the asian comic angry symbol on the side of the head) about being said to be dressed like a bad/evil person.

Alot of good side characters are dying in one way or another here, I wonder if any of them will really die.
