Well I will say that if there was someone of this age but raised in a situation where life is less cushy I would expect better decision making. The fact that they are highschoolers in highschool is why this fits. If Helmut (from another manhwa) made these types of decisions I'd be like wtf. Whats going on is that each panel has the combined quality of 1 chapter of most other manhwa. If they need to be short to be this good, so be it.

It's nice as a change of pace to have a murim mc side with the elders. It's almost always that the righteous mc sides with the righteous leader of the murim union to combat the corrupt elders. In this case the dynamics of the union are the same, but the mc is selfish and just wants to be an elder. I'll actually be pretty dissapointed if the mc ends up siding with the union leader.
