the more intelligent a human is, the easier to modify it's mind on a certain way, because really intelligent people have the tendency to have one special way of guiding their toughs, knowing how to recognize that is easy for someone to trick them.
Also intelligent people recognized as so for society, have the tendency to creat big egotistical self images, including the believe that they can't be tricked or forced to think in a certain way, wich leads to been even easier to be tricked and guided.

Well many societies uses diverse methods to try to preserve food, mainly Salt, Smoke and Vinager and in case of cold places, ice and snow, but those methods have the problem of changing the taste of the food, that's why refrgerator machines where such an important development, because allowed to keep food for long periods in any kind of climate, and even accrooss really long distances.

It does makes sense, keeping food eadible for long time it's a problem that every human society needs to solve.
