It was mentioned, but it was mentioned in a way that the author assumes readers know what "stepping into society" means in this kind of setting. An example being, MC asked how old they were now, and his bodyguard replied, "old enough to step into society" Now, to the majority of people, they will look at this as them just moving into adulthood because they are 18, and they are not exactly wrong about this. However, in this setting, it's very different and is meant to be viewed from a noble perspective, not a normal one.

Here's a simple way to view it: We as readers know MC had a noble upbringing, and the bodyguard replying they are stepping into high society was a simple way to refer to their age without doing so individually. In return, it was a fast, simple response, which was very important in those times for many reasons. One example being, if you did not want your life cut short, keep it simple.

With all that said, for anyone unaware of what stepping into society means in a noble setting, royal and aristocratic individuals typically stepped into society for marriage at around 17 or 18 years old, participating in a formal "coming out" or "debutante" season. This was a transition from childhood to adulthood, marked by an introduction to the monarch and other high society members, and was often followed by a period of social events. So yes, the age was mentioned, but it requires a bit of understanding from the readers. If you are not paying attention, it will easily go over someone's head.

On a final note, another thing to take into consideration is that novels are not always one to one when being made into a manhwa, manhua, or manga. Sometimes it will feel rushed, missing key details, etc. and then sometimes it will take the story in a different direction, etc. We live in a time of heavy censorship, and that heavy censorship will only become heavier over time. Censorship influences how much is changed from the original or even brings a chance to be canceled or the need to gamble on a different story route. A good example of this is " The Battle Through Heavens" donghua. I'm about 20 episodes behind, last time I checked, the current story was pushing Medusa aside for the other love interest Xiao Xun'er he ends up with alongside Medusa in the novel, and novel readers were furious. Even Medusa's daughter in the donghua was never referred to as MC's own, even from MC's own mouth. If you were not a novel reader, you probably would not have known it was his kid. This is how much influence censorship has.

I say all this because the majority of people expect a one to one with novels, etc. It's just not that simple anymore, and the authors get a lot of unnecessary backlash at times. So this is more of a reminder that we are in different times and that authors and adaptation teams operate under different constraints.

The beginning of Chapter 0 should tell you all you need to know, especially with the way the MC presents himself. The MC reminds me of someone who has Chuunibyou, also referred to as "eighth grader syndrome" I would not be surprised if Liar Liar ended the story with the MC waking up from a dream full of his own delusions in a special needs classroom, with drool coming from his mouth, and as he woke up, he slowly started to accept reality, which all started from him not paying attention in class.

Now, for anyone reading this, I want you to know I've got nothing against anyone who has special needs. If anything, I want the best for them, just like I would for anyone I would come across in my life. We are only human at the end of the day, and everyone is special in their own way, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. So anyone who is in special needs classes, just know there's nothing wrong with it, and do not let anyone tell you otherwise, because everyone has a calling in life and something they're good at. I just feel like the MC is on the slow side, that's covered up with god like plot armor.

With that said, social class in Liar Liar is decided based on children's games. Yep, you heard that right! games like rock, paper, scissors, thumb wars, staring contests, tag, hide and seek, musical chairs, and the list goes on. Knowing this, it's already a very awkward read, especially for someone like myself, since I'm a grown adult.

The MC literally walks himself through every game effortlessly with his god like plot armor, especially in the first battle he had, which was the final boss of the school. It's pure stupidity, it's so stupid, in fact, that the story gives you the feeling of being stupid for reading it. To make matters worse, his facial expressions are so cringy I almost just had to stop reading from that alone. It felt so out of place, especially with knowing how effortlessly he beat the top student of the academy. In short, he does deserve his position.

From too much plot armor to the egotistical, cringy edgelord expressions the MC makes. I just felt like I was grinding my teeth all the way through without actually grinding my teeth. You know the feeling, or you don't, just know it's not a good feeling.

If you want a good, solid read with a well executed story and a similar concept that features a likable MC that's not an edgelord and makes actual sense, read the "Classroom of the Elite" novel. Also, give the anime a try. There's a reason it has multiple seasons for the anime.

https://i.postimg.cc/XvZ8m9F6/e.jpg For anyone curious, this is the Douluo Dalu, or Soul Land, writer and the reason why Ri, along with many web novels, got banned. He is also an official of the CCP, which is why he could influence the law in his favor. He gets trolled on Chinese social media as he likes to gain sympathy because of his wife's death, talking about how much he loved her, etc. The funny part is he got married pretty quickly after his wife's death, earning him the infamous name "Dead Wife Demon Venerable"

Remember how I asked, Bro, are you half dumb? Well, you are officially considered dumb. Yes, you heard that right! Dumb, or should I say slow? For not only missing the entire point of my first post but also missing my entire point in my second post. It's all in the humor, and funny enough, after my second post, you are now considered the center of the joke for that humor. It was meant for people like you, and you took it seriously.

Grow up, live a little, learn to have fun, and smile. Get through school so you can stand proud and say, "I made it" because, at the end of the day, life's too short for these tantrums you are throwing. Stop wasting time and make your parents proud. Once again, you made my day, kiddo, not once but twice. LMAO

Lmao, the intelligence of these monks in this chapter remind me of the scandal where a woman seduced a group of monks, and they fell for it. Like, how do you fall for that as a monk? Here's the on scene arrest video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDUfDY-k0K8

Bro, are you half dumb? You actually took that seriously? The audacity you have for calling me dumb! You just aren't connecting the dots, and that's not my fault but yours. If you looked past the math section and took the time to read, you would see clear as day it's meant as a joke. It's not that serious, but you decided to take it as such. You made my day with that one, kiddo. LMAO

Do not be fooled!
A quarter of a wiener plus a half of a wiener does not equal a full wiener.

Mathematically, this breaks down as follows
A quarter = 1/4
A half = 1/2
1/4 + 1/2 = 3/4

Therefore, adding one quarter and one half together gives you three quarters of a wiener, not a whole wiener. This means she got scammed out of a full wiener.

Why is this important? Well, that full wiener could have been a wiener of a lifetime. In short, the plot thickens. This is a concern, not a problem. What would have been thicker is now thinner, now all we're left with is a plotline. But worry not! there's still a chance it can be thickened. She just needs a full grown wiener, and without a complete wiener, the plot will never thicken. Let's just hope she one day receives a full wiener and not three quarters of a wiener.

On a final note, there was a game called Age of Wushu that had these kinds of cloud techniques explained in my previous reply, and let me tell you, that game, in its prime, was one of the best ways to introduce someone to wuxia. It was a real eye opener for people unfamiliar with the wuxia world. Some of my best gaming memories were in Age of Wushu. I learned a lot and was mesmerized by everything wuxia during my time playing over the years.

One of the coolest parts about the game was that while introducing someone to Age of Wushu, you were, at the same time, introducing them to Jet Li. If they were unfamiliar with who he is, since he was the poster boy of the game.

If you know the difference between xianxia and wuxia, it's easier to understand.

Here's the difference between xianxia and wuxia in more detail: In xianxia, a practitioner (or cultivator) trains to achieve immortality and godhood, transcending the mortal realm entirely. Ascension is an extraordinary, supernatural event that marks a character's transition from mortal to immortal.

Practitioners have what we call "Heavenly Tribulation" Before ascending, the cultivator must face a Heavenly Tribulation, often a violent storm of divine lightning and other phenomenas sent by the heavens to test their worthiness. Following this is "Clouds of Heaven and Earth" which happens when successfully passing the tribulation. Ascending is a monumental event that shakes the world. This is accompanied by grand displays of power, such as the gathering of vast clouds of spiritual energy from heaven and earth. These aren't just normal clouds, they are a manifestation of the universe acknowledging the cultivator's breakthrough.

The key here is "a manifestation of the universe acknowledging the cultivator's breakthrough" This is why clouds are being produced in space during MC's ascension.

Now, in wuxia stories, it focuses on human martial artists and their impressive but still human level feats, while superhuman by our standards. an example of this is the Shaolin Temple in real life, where they are constantly pulling off superhuman like feats. Characters in wuxia are not immortal gods and cannot "ascend" to a higher plane of existence.

Seeking the peak of power would look like this in wuxia: The ultimate goal for a wuxia hero is not immortality but to become the most skilled and powerful martial artist in the world. With skills like "Clouds" as a technique, any mention of clouds in wuxia usually refers to a high level movement technique called (qinggong) An example being a skill called "Cloud Ascending Ladder" which would allow a person to move with incredible lightness and speed, leap to great heights, and run on vertical surfaces. Though depending on the story, it can vary, and "Cloud Ascending Ladder" can be named something else entirely.

With that said, wuxia has no divine phenomena. The stories are rooted in a more quasi historical world. There are no magical "heaven and earth" clouds or divine lightning trials for a character reaching the peak of their martial power. Instead, the "origin energy" of heaven and earth is the basis for their cultivation, but it does not manifest in the same way as in xianxia.

Yeah, I'm a big fan. It's a great read, honestly, and there are so many well written characters that it's hard to have a true favorite, at least for me. It's great to see another fan around here. Cheers!

I feel like you are "projecting questions" No matter how I go about answering these two questions, you have multiple angles to attack me for a "I proved you wrong" scenario, and I do not want to play childish games with you. But if you are genuine, give me a reason why I should answer your question seriously? Be more specific ? Are we talking about real life scenarios? or fantasy? Or both? Are we comparing real life to fantasy? or fantasy to real life? What led you to ask these questions?

Depending on the reason, I do not mind answering your questions. There are many ways I can answer, and there are many ways you can twist my answer to your favor, an example being that it's a very delicate question to ask, and it is by no means a question you should be asking just anyone. You can then twist the "it's a delicate question" part to your favor.

But what if I told you that as soon as you are considered a disciple, you are considered no different from family to your master? As a master, would you tell your life story to a dying disciple? It's inhumane not to since it would give them peace of mind, but it was glossed over instead of providing us key information. There is a time and place to ask such a question, and that was the time and place for it to be asked.

Now, I do not expect a full on documentary of MC's life, but I do expect reasons for his actions. All we know as of this post is MC is obsessed with protecting the empire. Why? Like I said, give me a reason to keep reading. Again there is tons of missing key information, you can't expect readers to understand MC's dedication to the empire just from a life and death battle with the demon lord, while being in the heroes party.

All we got was a time skip, it's just bad writing, and there's no excuse for it. We know nothing about why MC's so close to his party and why the MC is so dedicated to the past emperor/empire besides that battle. We just got one of our very first flashbacks in chapter 9 and it has nothing to do with MC. I do not recommend reading it.

You are fine to disagree with all of the above, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But if you have not read "One Step Toward the Dark Lord" you might not fully understand why it's a big issue that will become bigger over time with these kinds of stories. And if you have read it and see no issue, even after reading my reply to my own post on why it's such a big issue, well, you turned off your brain while reading a masterpiece, and it's a damn shame.

MC's skill was so powerful it took half a chapter to finish casting. His skill reminds me of the Arc skill from "Path of Exile" I can see MC eventually getting some mirror tier items, you could argue he already has a full set. I can imagine his endgame goal is becoming a walking simulator.

Funny enough, he has essentially already reached that goal with his support gem called Misunderstandings, which causes a third party to misunderstand any given situation.

Yikes! I was about to dive right in. Those intimacy scenes might not be much for others, but it's definitely crucial to a romance story, it's a deal breaker for me depending on how the story is presented. Sometimes I'll let it slide though, for example, the had s*x is obvious or hinted at.

But sometimes you will be reading a manga, and you randomly notice such an increase in deep affection between certain characters. Then you eventually read the web novel or light novel, just to find out it was a s*x scene that deepened their relationship, and that's a big no no. Being left in the dark is horrible feeling. It's a bigger deal than people think it is, especially if you understand why s*x is important in a relationship, let alone a marriage. It's a make or break for both.

Anyway, you saved me some time. thanks for the heads up. It's bad enough we have to deal with the amount of key scenes and details left out when going from a web novel and light novel to a manga in certain works, etc.

On a final note, if you ever read "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" which I highly, highly recommend and which requires some thought to understand just how much of a masterpiece it is since it's not a brain off read, you would see where this story is heading. The author in this story butchered the very thing that made "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" such a masterpiece.

"One Step Towards the Dark Lord" has never strayed from its original goal, which is literally in the title: one step at a time. Straight from the very first chapter.

If "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" decided to stray from its original goal like this story did in the first few chapters, the butter would be spoiled, and there would be no bread. It will create bigger problems as the story goes on that will only get worse.

This is why I am using "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" as a comparison because it's a perfect example that examines what would happen if the author of "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" followed the same path as this author did. When you compare the two, it will be a long adventure where you will meet many enemies and comrades, etc. But remember, "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" never strayed from its goal. It explained enough to follow along, provided you were paying attention. I'm talking about the backgrounds of characters, the whole long mile.

This story, on the other hand, not only failed to present a clear goal, but it also strayed from it. We know nothing about key details like the hero's party, etc. Why is the MC so dedicated? While the adventure goes on, more comrades and enemies will be introduced, and guess what? Even more will come.

We are at chapter 9 as of this post, with no answers to the most important questions. The beginning of stories is the foundation of what's to come. After reading "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" I know what's coming, and it's a big no no.

This author can't make up his or her mind. Just because a few chapters are out, you cannot give this author a pass on this. There 's no excuse for it. Like I said, you would understand if you read "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" Go read it, and as you do, try to visualize how this story will turn out. You can use "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" as that visual guide line.

This story lost its purpose from chapter 1, while stories like "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" have never strayed from their original goal, Straight from the very first chapter, as I mentioned above.

Not going to lie, I feel a pain in my heart using "One Step Towards the Dark Lord" as a comparison because, in my personal opinion, this story is not even worthy of that.
