Naaaaah bro he has to go through a long and drawn out character arc where he has an existential crisis over who he was before dying and who he is now which culminates in him either being the main antagonistic rival that the MC has to defeat or, conversely, swapping sides and becoming the most reliable ally on the team. Then he might die.

What the MC is saying isn't a blanket truth statement but it does hold truth within it. It's probably better to say that people who are ugly on the inside have the propensity to become uglier over a long period of time, a practical example being how frowning too much can cause permanent wrinkles, a more subjective but widely agreed upon example being that Tom Cruise eyes look empty and soulless when he smiles. (Or just in general really)

I think he was more just shocked that he would actually trust him enough to tell him the truth. He asked the MC expecting him to dodge around the issue, but he didn't.

The humor seems a little strange at first but once you start to understand the MC it just clicks and you can't get enough of it. Truly peak stuff here.

To be fair, he was estranged from his daughter due to her grandmothers influence. We saw some chapters ago how enraged he was when he found out the horrible stuff she was up to both in school and out of it, so there are some understandable circumstances at play.

Not at all though? Psychopathy is being incapable of feeling empathy or remorse for ones own actions, essentially making a person "dead" emotionally to a large degree. This guy has serious issues, but that isn't it.

To be fair, I wouldn't really call it psychopathy. It's more like toxic co-dependence similar to a cult mentality with some bipolar schizoid mixed into the cocktail. He truly cared about his "family" including john, which is part of why he's so enraged as he sees this as a betrayal on Johns part I believe. Still bat shit crazy ofc.

Feels like a ridiculous pipe dream these SS guys got if they think that they can maintain balance when even a little girl can cause that kind of absurd phenomenon at the drop of a hat.
