Well, the first monster he encountered in this world is a truck-sized komodo dragon that can easily catch up to his car going 70km/h. The second are the slave traders who were chucking grenade-equivalent fireballs. Third is the fire dragon one of the attacker was riding and finally the mage himself.

Like unless you're packing at the very least something on the level of a LMG, your average self-defense weapon, especially one that you can hope to procure in Japan, is going to be a mild inconvenience at best to all those adversaries. The slave traders are a toss-up depending on whether they too can cast barrier around them like the mage and the strength of said barrier.

I'm really digging the design of her arms. Rather than having to create a whole additional socket from the shoulder, her arm is basically two hands, one slightly smaller, combined into one and even then instead of creating like a storage space for when the extra hand isn't in use, standby mode is basically just the smaller hand clasping onto the bigger one in-between the latter's fingers.
