The combination of arrogance, contempt and victim blaming make for a stupid person, not a villain.

When you stab someone, freakin' make sure they die. And if you're uncertain, remove their head. Many magical gimmicks can dance around a wounded/damaged heart, but head removal is pretty certain.

Also, what did they think was gonna happen? "Hey, we're giving this absurd power to you... and everything is going to turn out fine." bruh... you treated him like "a thing" and you KNEW he was definitely not your ally. These villains are so "evil" that they spin right around to being stupid.
Again, if you want a villain to pin all the world's problem on them and them alone, make sure they're worthy of that role.

A war might've started if he got bored and killed all of these guys - still, the war would NOT be in favor of all the people he killed.

I get the notion of "I'll play along to get as much information as possible -> to solve this entire problem in one fell swoop" -> but there is power in nuking a huge part of an organization and getting the empire involved.

Ya know, I have an inkling of a guess on what's going on:

The Calamity threatened that it will be back. So like... you beat it and it comes back later. Ms. Main Character lived for a literal century... how many calamities has she come across until this point?

As time goes on, she finds the next Calamity; they're evil and are gonna drive humanity to extinction, so she kills the Calamity and moves on. Rinse and repeat... until now. She came across a good boy! A boy who would rather die than harm others; a boy who asked to be killed to avoid being the Calamity... and this boy is supposed to be the Calamity? There will never be true world peace as long as the calamity keeps returning, threatening to wipe out humanity, so perhaps a different approach will work: save the boy. Save him and perhaps the Calamity will cease to exist entirely.

So, it is sweet, but I don't think it is stupid. Even if I'm wrong, there is probably more to it than what they're telling/showing us. It is kinda annoying how stingy with information this manhwa is.

Also, yes. I know I practically applied the Castlevania Dracula mythos - or the Legend of Zelda mythos - to this manhwa. lol
