Yes, RainbowTurtle is right. Grid is the better option between the two. The author agrees; not in a note or something, but atop a new chapter. Specifically: Chapter 1467.
(I sat down and just flipped through the chapters until I found it, since I got the whole novel unlocked.)
"[Name: Grid]
His name was still intact. There was the meaning of 'greed.' It was represented how Grid started Satisfy and what Grid's personality was like at the time. It didn't go well with the present day Grid. Of course, that didn't change the name by itself. He wouldn't change it even if an ID change option was released.
Names had power. His life was buried in it. It proved all the connections he had made, his accumulated achievements, his reputation, etc. The name has its own power. The greatest name in the world at the moment was Grid."
Two things:
1) I hope I don't get in trouble over posting this.
and 2) to be as clear as possible: the author had his name vague on purpose. With this chapter, author's expressed agreement is that his name is Grid in English.
This isn't even a matter of subjectivity but objectivity, unless you wanna call the author wrong. If so, then just get out of here. lol
The ambiguity that RainbowTurtle faced wasn't an accident, nor was it due to ineptitude. RainbowTurtle made the correct call.
Whoever is in charge of the wiki and the dudes at ReaperScans should follow the officially licensed novel. What does it say? Go with that. You don't like it? Well, you're wrong. That's the entire story, beginning to end.
Have a nice day.
Don't mind me just being impatient.

Did you know, this is the second iteration of Overgeared's manhwa? The first one is still around somewhere - and it stopped pretty early on. Overall, it was taking a lot more liberties (and humor) compared to this one. Example: the first blacksmith Grid works with gets turned into a little girl... no, I'm not joking. Why am I bringing this up? Due to how unloyal it is to the source, you can't casually lift stuff from the novel and use it directly - which is possible with this manhwa; I've been comparing. So... guess how they translated it? Manually; and guess the name Mr. Main Character had.
Furthermore, Grid vs Greed wasn't and isn't a serious matter, but the toxicity that popped up was. Some people feel that they're correct -> and triple jump to insulting the other people instead of debating/arguing. Sound familiar? It happens all the time on this website - and generally on the internet.
Me? I just point it out every time. I'm an old man so that's just something I do. Recently, "The King's Avatar" got translations that use "Stolord" instead of "Lord Grim." So there I am in the comments section pointing that out. Find me at chapter 154 pointing it out.
The specific comment that I made on this chapter wasn't just about Grid vs Greed -> it was more on how the manhwa messed up portraying the events that happened: namely how they're absolutely making Grid look more of an idiot in this specific scenario (he's always an idiot lol). Also they're downplaying High Rankers - as what Euphemina says vs what she should say may be a small difference, but it is quite heavy.
It's the difference between Iron Man and Batman, after all. hehehe
Also, the scene with the two dads is trying to hit me with a "getting old" mood.
I know it's the snowflake thing in the background, but it makes it look like it has ears that were soooooo important that they drew it beyond the ID box thingy. lol
But you gotta admit, heroes are kinda weird for that. lol
Also, a reminder that weird =/= bad.
is that if you schedule surgery, it tends to happen at like... 5 in the morning. I get why, but man do I not like waking up early.
Like, imagine in 5 years, if Ronnie can't update, then the information will be stagnant. It's kinda like asking Chat GPT a question about something that got a major update in 2023 -> but Chat GPT would have no clue... leading to unacceptable answers.
