This is a "Dungeon Hunting" manhwa. You know what this means: there are dungeons, people get abilities and go inside to clear them to get loot; video game menus and mechanics, leveling up, etc. This is the basis and how it starts off but it eventually walks off this path to pursue a larger goal.
To address a few things:
1) I don't get why people hate Mr. Main Character. He's the main character who marches to the beat of his own drum. He is strangely compassionate for a ruthless person but the more you learn and understand everything he has experienced, the more it makes sense. He's a complex character who is so used to ruling that it can almost blindside you how far ahead he is planning.
2) This was not axed. This manhwa is based on the novel with the same name; it is 208 chapters, including an epilogue. The story was never all that long, nor is it rushed. The author has a story to tell, struggles to portray, and a mystery to unveil as well as resolve -> and executes all that. It's short because it doesn't waste your time.
The art and combat sequences are pretty good, the characters are well written, the lore of the world(s) is significantly deeper than you'd expect and there is a pretty huge plot twist building up in the background, setting up a devastating scenario which Mr. Main Character needs to overcome.
An example of characters mattering in this work: one random guy who starts off as a no-named extra, on his way to just straight up dying and being forgotten -> ends up becoming one of the strongest allies. It isn't an immediate change but it takes place over the course of around 100 chapters.
As for the main character, he's no Saitama, but he is the Goku of this plot. It's funny how manhwa fans absolutely hate it when there's a "Goku" character, meanwhile DBZ is one of the most beloved manga/anime of all time. You know "Goku!" He's "the main guy" who is effectively "the only good guy that matters" and his combat with the baddies is the only one that matters. If Goku ain't there, then everyone else's job is to "just try their best to not die until Goku arrives." Sure, Vegeta eventually joins Goku in this trope, but the point still stands.
This manhwa features this trope buuuuuuuut, and I'm sure I'll earn someone's ire from this statement: this manhwa puts more care and love into its non-Goku characters than Dragon Ball ever did; except maybe an arc or two in Super.
Overall, 8/10. I'm not IGN so that's a great score.
Full Disclosure: I'm obviously bad at names, including typing them with proper spelling... so if you catch me saying "Mr. Main Character," now you know why I do that.
Not only can I recommend it, I recommend it more than that "Rise From Ashes" that truepurple (newest comment under mine) recommends instead of it.
and now, it has a "small spin off series" that's at chapter 169 and counting lol. I read it too and frankly, it is more of the same. I feel that the author didn't really finish all his ideas for Fairy Tail and is using it to finish the series as how he wants. Good for him.
People complained how Fairy Tail goes on and on and on and on and on an-> and it's true. Fairy Tail is absolutely long as it doesn't skip any arcs. Not much happens off-screen in Fairy Tail -> and the author took those criticisms and just... skipped a ton of stuff in this and wrapped up the story in under 300 chapters. No training arcs, no weird mysteries to randomly trip upon while traveling, no no nothing.
It took you 10 hours to finish chapter 3?It's not so much as "doubling down" as it is "started pointing at a thing, and I'm still pointing at it since it hasn't budged an inch."Feel free to type up a counterargument. I'll probably entertain it if it makes sense. It'll be a funny argument, especially because you, yourself, called the mangaka a pea-brained person, which is hilariously agreeing with me.

Awwwww. It's rare to see a literal baby behaving like a literal baby in most comics.
Also, this is an adorable reaction:
