All things considered having read up to recent chapters, yeah the army kind of had it easy they only have to deal with one monster type. The people in the city had to deal with a lot of different types and then whoever those types killed became zombies and then whoever the zombies killed also became zombies and they're fast zombies that are just smart enough to hide places so they can jump on people by surprise and occasionally can use weapons, if anything The Awakening rate ought to be higher on those zombies given their spawn conditions.

So that's what that look in the old man's eyes was earlier during the betrayal scene I thought he was going to secretly be an awakened too or something, turns out he just got the fire to want to be a combatant again in his eyes.

It's kind of b******* that these m************ had to fight God damn armor-skinned roided out lizard men to get their Awakening, meanwhile it seems like most people just ran into s*** like zombies that you could just love tap with a bat unless its like evened out by the soldiers getting better jobs or something.

I'm glad they reacted like that. that's the best most accurate reaction cuz that's how I reacted when she just slipped mufuckin zombies into her sentence like it wasn't a big deal.

Jesus Christ I get that it's the army but you know it's the apocalypse you saw how bad it was out there why you all so picky ( also the first complaint that old man makes I'm leaving him to die. sorry dog if you provide no benefit to the group and you're also a f****** fly in my ear you're gone and I'll make it look like a bloody accident.)

13 chapters in, actually pretty solid so far, there's actually a pretty decent use of strategy in combat and planning like even though there's definitely a protagonist this is very much, at least as of now, the story of a whole battalion of soldiers having to become combat capable against monsters with relatively good pacing and reasonable balance as far as power goes at least so far, there's the occasional but decent use of comedy and both the action and the art are pretty passable so unless it takes a left turn or something it's easily on its way to being a solid 7 out of 10 if not higher. Update at chapter 30- the series slaps, moreso than a lot of series with this type of setting this one emphasizes the actual trait that has kept humans alive throughout the ages which is cooperation and strategy. People have a clear thought process and understandable methodologies. there's been no lore dumps nor has there been an absence of knowledge, they tell you something exactly when you need it which is when the other characters learn about it - no more no less. So it's very easy to keep up with everything that's happening and all the information they give you. Characters are relatively distinct without being particularly complex, in some cases this is a weakness but it's a strength here considering what type of story this is, I say give it a read. if you power through the relatively slow first couple chapters you just get a genuinely enjoyable time That remains relatively light despite the setting.

When it's survival of the fittest you don't got many options. Many delicious, tender, savory, fall off the bone options.

Okay so the first calamity was a massive burning of the world in the response to the arrival of Joy boy, the second was when the world was flooded as a result of his death and that's when the devil fruits first appeared, and the third is what's going to happen when Luffy finally gets to Mariejois I guess.

Going off of previous discussions, all three worlds refer to the same place after various calamities, with the second world being the planet that was flooded as a result of the celestials and Imu's actions, the first world was the world before the arrival of the original Joy boy who initially freed the slaves, and the third world is the world they're currently in. Or something like that.

I never thought about it till now but stone Masons and construction workers must have both the most lucrative and the most miserable existences in these types of worlds because people treat stone walls and arenas and buildings and structures like Play-Doh to be smashed whenever a fight happens. And don't even get me started on the poor loggers that come to a forest one day after a fight only to discover half the forest is just smashed into pulp or burning because a guy decided he wanted to use his secret technique but couldn't bother to aim.

Damn all that because she was short.

(I know it's an emotional thing and all that but like as far as everyone that had to die for this it happened because he wanted to get her some height. Like this is really one of those "if somebody went to therapy no one would have had to die" situations)

Well that and she feels like she's falling behind, like everyone else in her class are making advancements and actually doing good at tests and stuff now and I guess she feels like she's stagnating.
