Might be Darksiders, pretty similar. But the angels in those games aren't really front and center as char/enemies. Other than the initial cinematic, they don't get a lot of time.

If you're gonna do the translation/meaning subtext after every single use, just use the subtext. Forcing a term/phrase that you feel the need to explain every single time because you used the Japanese verbiage for weeb points is just distracting overall. Pet peeve. Other than that, I do love this series. It's not often a series is just as climactic or hyped up through its speech and manipulation as it is the combat.

The mana in his ring isn't a long term collection. It's already been shown he has to change them out very often. So if anything, its a full representation of his own abundance. I can see the usage of more complex spells, but he's cast ancient spells from time to time as well. So I just don't get where the author wants our concept of his power level to be. At some point he'll just have to give up on the idea of capping himself with the rings and other equipment for the sake of appearing human.
