The mana in his ring isn't a long term collection. It's already been shown he has to change them out very often. So if anything, its a full representation of his own abundance. I can see the usage of more complex spells, but he's cast ancient spells from time to time as well. So I just don't get where the author wants our concept of his power level to be. At some point he'll just have to give up on the idea of capping himself with the rings and other equipment for the sake of appearing human.

Considering he's wearing about 10+ different things that reduce/drain his mana, that would be counter productive. Also, didn't we see what he does when he uses full force, when he created a literal lake with his mana? Either way.
