Damn, thats gotta be hard on your wrist.
while i can agree with pretty much everything else, every action and choice made has some sort of consequence. for your money and power clam, i would agree in terms of legislative of legal consequence, but those who abuse money and power are still mostly hated in the public eye. so while no, they wont be going to prison, or facing a criminal charge, their view in the eyes of their followers will still drop significantly. which I would still consider a consequence.
while i am disappointed that the kings consequences weren't more severe(not necessarily violent, just severe) its not like there were none, he was still attacked and defeated. MC would never have gotten to this point(for better or worse) without the king being who he is. those actions still had consequences.
Aside from that, everything else you said is honestly fair. And, to be clear, I'm not asking for violence, i just want more solid repercussions.
I've read "It's Sudden, but I came to Another World! But i hope to live Safely" and quite like it. i also know that this and that are two completely different environments. I'm not asking for this to be more like that, just, i don't know, more detailed. I'm a just sucker for good worldbuilding I guess.
But I digress, this has been a fun discussion for me and I do genuinely enjoy your input. i hope you felt the same.
for the second section, our MC is still from a modern world and even while being in a feudalistic one. This is literally the basis for the Isekai genre save for scarce few exceptions. So he should still have modern values to an extent, including concepts of crime and punishment.
And third, It doesn't need to be violent, but there needs is be adequate consequences. For both sides. as suggested in the first segment, force the king to abdicate, or lock him in his chambers for a while. Leave governance to the ministers.
If its about an authors portrayal, its fine to show an idealistic MC, but you also need to show that actions have consequences.
We don't question it for the western heroes because when the villain is defeated he still gets a comeuppance, typically getting arrested and/or imprisoned. So even if it means they'll just eventually break out, there's at least a punishment.
Meanwhile, an Isekai MC will just let their enemies off the hook with a "don't do this again" and walk away. There's no proper consequence and thus the villain is free to immediately go do something else which typically endangers the MC and their loved ones all over again. Even if you're not killing/maiming your enemies, at least give them a proper punishment instead of just "letting them off with a warning" over and over.
in short, while western heroes are merciful, Isekai MCs are just passive.
