I think if I remember correctly it's not really just the idea of authoritarian government, even though it is something that I probably don't like to see

but moreso a sour taste from previous manwhas tbf

I remember reading a manwha and I wasn't even really looking for good writing, but the way characters were written was so obscene, every moral and character alignment was warped around the main character, less that the mc was an absolute authority but moreso that the very tone/tonal message of a certain plot progression, dialogues, character traits or designs would be forced in such a way it permanently frames mc in the best of light

it's like if the author wrote that "mc bumped into the kid", everything from the following plot progression, to the dialogue, the art, everything would be written to frame the kid as an evilbastard who was disrespecting mc

and it just consistently kept and kept on happening for every new character, I swear to god they wrote themselves into a circle, rewrote it to make a female lead look bad, then had her screw the mc as her "redemption" it was so unreal

so from then on in manwha I kinda just look out for writing that sufficiently challenges our main character's in some sort of way (ideals, or authority as two examples), which is where my bias came from, it could totally be regular scening in retrospect but the aforementioned bias just shades everything in a bleak light

For whatever reason I can go on a multi-paragraph explanation on why him fucking up the miyamoto fight even acknowledging the prideful aspect is within reason and completely humane of him, especially considering everything else going on in the scene and people will still say "herr durr well he's a jerk so idgaf!!"

I mean, you can decide not to give a fuck but if you see no difference between a 1 dimensional recurring minor antagonist and peach boy, don't act like you're coming out of a place of sensible thought.
