Usually, harem is bad because it's just author wet dream being translated into the story, dense and lucky MC without any specialty than being generic character, and somewhat bunch of female character falling in love because all other male is evil, bad or shallow (as if the mc themselves isn't shallow).

The key difference here is that, MC here already established himself as solid character (aside from his cunning/trickery when in the game shenanigans), he himself proven very solid as person in the real life.

So are for the female characters that have been attracted to him, at the very least, unlike harem stories that just shove them into MC and make the story and plot went shit, they didn't do as much here, and MC and his shenanigan is still the main focus here, so as long they avoid that trap and suddenly shifted the melodrama and focus to the femalce characters out of nowhere, then it's should be fine.

Basically simply put, the difference is that this one is "Good Story that happens to have a harem," rather than a "Harem Story trying to have a plot."

I hope the author eventually really pick who will end with the MC, all of them is honestly sweet.
