people kept saying she turned off the gods but it seems like she didn't. but it doesn't actually make sense that they would abandon her so easily unless they are required to only support one saint.

He was naive. His purpose was not to fight but to protect his lord, but had a stupid lord so in the end that lord's stupidity got him killed.

so either they don't reveal their origins, or they do and no one believes them. Granted it doesn't actually serve any purpose one way or another except for the reader's own perception.

indeed, her being able to see the fairy or spirit or whatever is proof of this. Up to this point no one could see it but him so they are now linked in some way.

oh nobody can possibly see that as a possible outcome. Surely former top members would not be involved in something so lame and petty as jealousy as some new comer upstages them. Surely that could never happen.

Hence the problem with the whole concept. in actuality, they may as well just be friends traveling together but the author is actually saying it's one thing, but making it another. She is not a servant, or a slave or anything of that sort, and the contract pretty much implies that.I think the problem I find with it is that itwould have been much much easier to give her a temporary identification, and then have him guarantee it by vouching for her. Kind like cosigning for a loan. Actually that's pretty much what it is. Hes cosigning for her, but they are calling it a slave contract. Figuratively, you could call it that, but it isn't what that is. This actually has been a fruitful conversation.

It isn't even that though, as they explained its a mutual contract that certifies guardianship over a person. It doesn't even rise up to the level of master/servant.

It explains a lot about how they have such a relaxed view of slavery and casual use of it in their storytelling. on the flip side, they don't use nuclear weapons in their storytelling lightly, and even if they do, it's usually to show devastation. Or difference in scale.

i think the word "slave" is in appropriate for the contract they just made. By definition there is no consent to slavery. The author took great pains to explain the whole process but merely saying "although these contracts are managed by the slave management company, they one actually isn't actually a slave under this contract" or something of those lines. Doing it this way kind of diminishes the horror that is actual slavery.
