There is no impersonation, old man in the prison was the master (previous head of the sect/clan). The bad guy (mu ak) captured him in the past and imprisoned him. Then he told every one his master was dead, becoming the sect leader , and after all that he became the líder of the group ( forgot the name , something with lion?) and after alliance leader.
The confusion must be that at some point he was one of the most righteous people and something happened that made him change completly (didn’t show what happend ).

It seems you skimed too. He is not a fake, the other was his master, one is mu ak(the one alive) the other gun ak (master). So he is the real one, for some reason betrayed and imprisoned his master, the blind weaken one in the prison.

This arc??? Almost this whole manwha is generic, except maybe for the concept. It has no real storytelling, but for some reason it keeps me entertained. It’s weird , most manejas like this I drop them on ch 30 to 50.

I think this is being rushed, there are 1 panel intro for villains, no real presentation or motives more than they are assholes. It started good, it will have a meh ending from what is being delivered the last couple of chapters
