You have to take into consideration that brain is doing thousands things in parallel that’s why you may think that we are not as efficient as computers

In processing too, there is nothing comparable to human brain, the amount of paralel processing and neuronal connections is insane , nothing today can compare to it.
We don’t remember well all memories because of how human brain works, for efficiency it doesn’t store the complete memmory, but fragments of them and when we recall them we piece together the fragments and fill with what our brains think is logical the missing spaces. Think of a video as an example, instead of saving every second of the video in memmory it would save every 5 seconds and image with partial audio (not really this proportion, I don’t know the real proportion). So for 60 second video , we have 12 images in memory and then the brain would grab them and recall full memory from them, and that’s why there are some discrepancies in memories with reality, brain saves what it considers most important or core to the memory , the rest it fills it up.
