dragons race usually has a lifespan several times that of even elves so yea, there's 2 ways to show time for those kinds of races which is either A: a longer prepubescent period, or B: they grow up but look locked in the middle ages appearance wise for centuries. most series/artists will gravitate towards the latter since character designs/descriptions can stay the same for things like time skips or memory flashbacks
