Because many people consider it rude and low-class to use profanity, but killing people for fun and profit is perfectly fine as long as the killer is killing "the right sort of people".

It's most common among Chinese, Koreans, a fair few African cultures, and certain Islamic sects - basically any society where "Face" is an active concern - but the more "high class" you get, the more common it is. "Low class" tends to go the other way, where any rudeness is fine as long as you're honest (and killing is still acceptable as above).

It's where the phrase "Better dead than rude" came from.
