I don't have a problem with them learning from actual art. Any attempt to slow down AI progression is meaningless. AI WILL take over jobs like those, whether people like it or not, as unfortunate as it may be. I think the fact that this manga has similar depressive undertones to Scum's Wish is indication enough that she played some hand in this story... As well as the fact that she's the artist for this manga, I think it's ridiculous to believe that she didn't at least have some hand in the story.
